Music Creation Ideas

I have been unable to create any music for the trailer as yet, due to some film elements still needing completion and therefore incurring problems with timings in the music.
However I have been able to take some ideas and experiment to see how I might use them within the trailer when able.

Idea 1

  • One idea I have had is for the first scenes with the balloons and park.
  • A repeated chord of G major played at different octaves could modulate to it's relative minor (E minor) towards the end, suggesting the move towards darker elements of the film.
  • When the second text comes up for her at eighteen the music could 'slide' down, imitating the idea of her falling into the hands of her eating disorder

Voiceover Ideas and Effects

Ideas for 'Voices'
When deciding what Jane should hear during the town scene, we wanted it to be malicious but noticeably overly critical to show how her mind is doubting her appearance, in a way that people she had not met before wouldn't. These were some of the ideas we had:
  • 'worthless'
  • 'gross'
  • 'ugly'
  • 'outcast'
  • 'reject'
  • 'hideous'
  • 'fat'
  • 'loser'
  • 'idiot'
  • 'stupid'
  • 'creep'
  • 'loner'
  • 'weirdo'
The idea or how to record these as a voice over 'in her mind' was to use my microphone and garageband, adding reverb to the voices, increasing ambience and increasing treble, and decreasing bass.

To film this we would need a microphone, garageband, and at least two people from the group.

Inner Monologue Ideas

Expanding The Original Storyboard

THE ORIGINAL STORYBOARD

Above is the original storyboard in which we incorporated some of our ideas to include within our trailer.  However, as we were filming we decided that we wanted to add more shots in and not include others.  Therefore a second storyboard needed to be created.

Storyboard #2

This storyboard was a little out of date by the time it had finished as we had added more shots into it and also taken out some of them.  Also the pictures were roughly drawn as it was another rough version of the storyboard.

Pro's and Con's of Body Shaming Idea

In making the decision of which trailer idea to use, a list of pro's and con's of each idea were created. As the body shaming idea was mine I did a summary of it as follows:

Pro's
  • Creates awareness of an issue that many people face on a regular basis
  • A strong plot line could be made, from which trailer ideas could be based
  • Location wise it would be good as many locations could fit
  • A wide range of camera angles could be used
  • All areas such as editing, photoshop and sound would play a major factor
Con's
  • The main actor would have to be comfortable in what could be seen as an uncomfortable situation to fill, with many intimate shots
  • During the creation of the ideas we would have to be careful not to offend anyone as the idea could be misread in ways that could send out the wrong message
  • Research into the idea could be difficult as it isn't an idea which many films have had as a main focus, rather as an extra them
